The Word is the Railway.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing each other in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with grace in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16

The Spirit of God needs the word of God to be spoken for Him to construct the desired outcome. When creation came to be, God had to speak the word, “Let there be light.” Genesis 1:3 And it is on those constructs of words God the Holy Spirit brought forth light. Paul in Hebrews writes, “By faith we understand the universe to have been formed by the word of God, so that the things being seen have not been made from the things being visible.” Hebrews 11:3 That is the essence of all creation stands on the framework of the spoken word of God.

Paul speaking to the Thessalonians says, “[You] having received the word of God by your hearing from us, you accepted not the word of men, but even as truly it is, the word of God, which also works in you who believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13 The word we receive and believe in, works in us effectively, it is what we permit to take root in us. In Corinthians also he says, “And we all having been unveiled in face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 That is the Spirit of God transforms us into the very image of the glory of the Lord we behold. Ephesians and Colossians exhort us in the means by which we may behold Him, that is we ought to grow in the knowledge of the Son of God. To this James also instructs us to put to practice the image we have seen in the word. [James 1:25]

• “Until we all may attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a complete man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” Ephesians 4:13
• “Having put on the new, the one being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one having created him.” Colossians 3:10

Therefore we need to make way for the word of God to dwell in us richly, in order for the Spirit of God to work in us accordingly. It is in our believing and speaking the life in the Spirit is lived. “I believed therefore I have spoke.” 2 Corinthians 4:13 The word spoken is the railway that makes possible the might of the Spirit to be released in us and through us. Paul in Ephesians writes, “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, through all prayer and supplication, praying in the Spirit.” Ephesians 6:17-18 That is our tongue is the sword that wields the word of God. James makes it clear our tongue shapes to direct the course of our life. “If anyone does not stumble in what he says, this one is a perfect man, able indeed to bridle the whole body.” James 3:1

So we ought to put as much effort to convince ourselves of the truth of the word of God and to speak accordingly undeterred giving no heed to the circumstances that may arise, nor the apparent lack of result. Setting our course on nothing else except the truth of the word of God. It must become our way of life…
