A brief excerpt of the study: The main purpose of this study is to explore the days we are living in as it relates to the prophecies of Daniel that have to do with the feet of Iron and Clay. And to explain how this oddity of mixture is being forced to find congruence with one another on the account of the same spirit that works in both. So through this study we will explore the Seventh beast that is represented as a kingdom of Clay, which is different from all the others before it. In that, while every other beast was raised up from the sea to exert the nature of the devil upon the world, only the Seventh beast was raised from the earth with the same purpose. So, this beast represents a shift in the method of operation of the enemy, from the moment it came to effect, to its silent destruction at the closing of the present age.

We will begin with a prayer: We thank you, Lord, for this opportunity, our prayer is for your word to go out in the power of your Spirit so that it might bring repentance to the knowledge of the truth to those who hear, we pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

The main text of our study is from Daniel 2 verses 41 to 43, which reads, “And as you saw the feet and the toes, partly of the clay of a potter, and partly of iron, so the kingdom shall be divided; and some of the strength of the iron will be in it, as you saw the iron mixed with common clay. And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so partly the kingdom will be strong, and part will be brittle. And as you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will be mixing together with the seed of man; they will not be adhering this to that, as iron does not mix with clay.”

Here, Daniel is giving an interpretation of the final closing events of the dream which king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had, which Daniel described saying, “You, O king, were watching, and behold, a great image. This great image, whose splendor was excellent, was standing before you, and its appearance was frightening. This image, its head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet, part of them of Iron and part of them of Clay. You were looking, until that a stone was cut out, but not with hands, and it struck the image on its feet of Iron and Clay, and it shattered them.” Daniel 2 verses 32 to 34. And throughout the writings of Daniel we discover what each element that makes up this great image is meant to represent with the exception of one. Gold as the kingdom of Babylon, Silver as the kingdom of Media & Persia, Bronze as the kingdom of Greece, and Iron as the kingdom of Rome. However, Daniel never reveals what is meant to be represented by Clay, but only that it is not compatible when mixed with the kingdom described as Iron.

It is very important for us to bear in mind the prophecies of Daniel do not go beyond the legs of Iron which are meant to represent the Roman Empire, with a special emphasis to its first 11 Emperors. And this is a significant point because the writings of Daniel are meant to be understood in relation to the Jewish people and the city of Jerusalem. Hence, once the Jews were dispersed throughout the nations, and the city of Jerusalem burnt to the ground, no other Roman emperor is mentioned. So, the 11th Emperor, Emperor Vespasian, under whom this feat was achieved is the last emperor Daniel addresses. Not even his son, General Titus, who was directly responsible for the execution of the wrath of Rome upon the Jewish people, who later became emperor of Rome after his father is mentioned. Meaning, Daniel’s writing primarily addresses the coming of the Messiah to the moment He was cut off, and the immediate consequences that followed, that is the destruction of the Jewish people and the city of Jerusalem at the hand of the Roman Empire. As Daniel writes, “And after sixty and two sevens, Messiah will be cut off, and not for Him. And the people of the leader who is coming will destroy the city and the sanctuary.” Daniel 9 verse 26. As a result, the feet of the image consisting of a mixture of Iron and Clay are outside his field of vision. Therefore, he never tells us what the Clay represents even though he describes to us every other element that makes up the great image which king Nebuchadnezzar dreamt. And this ought to be a great sign that Daniel is not speaking about anything that is beyond 70 AD. The main point is that Daniel is describing to us a pinnacle moment in all of creation, that is the first appearance of the Messiah and the change His coming brought to effect. And according to our study, the magnitude of this event is even expressed in the change of method by which Satan has chosen to influence the world.

John, in the Book of Revelation describes Satan as having 7 heads, saying, “Behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his heads, seven diadems. And his tail drags a third of the stars of heaven, and he cast them to the earth. And the dragon stands before the woman being about to bring forth, so that when she should bring forth, he might devour her Child.” Revelation 12 verses 3 to 4. John is expressing to us how the devil throughout the ages has stood poised to oppose the woman Israel, in the foreknowledge that the Messiah is meant to come through her lineage. In that, the seven heads of the dragon are meant to represent the various dominions the devil used to exert against the woman while waiting for this precise moment. So, the first head of the dragon represents the dominion he sought to exert through the Egyptian kingdom, when the children of Israel were held in bondage for 400 years. The Second head represents the Assyrian kingdom, which was responsible for capturing and exiling the northern kingdom of Israel on the account of their unfaithfulness to God. The Third head represents the Babylonian kingdom, which was also responsible for capturing and exiling the southern kingdom of Israel, that is Judah, on the account they also had forsaken God like their northern brethren. The Fourth head represents the kingdom of Media and Persia to whom Israel was subject. The Fifth head represents the kingdom of Greece that ruled over the land of Israel through the southern Ptolemaic Empire and the northern Seleucid Empire. The Sixth head represents the Roman Empire, under whom the long awaited Messiah, the Child of the woman came forth, and the devil in total ignorance sought to devour Him by cutting Him off.

Now, we say in ignorance because the devil never realised how much the cutting off of the Messiah would cost him. As Paul describes the wisdom of God in respect to the cross, saying, “None of the rulers of this age has understood. For if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” 1 Corinthians 2 verse 8. And again, “Since the children have partaken of blood and of flesh, He also likewise took part in the same things, so that through His death He might destroy the one holding the power of death, that is, the devil.” Hebrews 2 verse 14. So, the consequence of the Cross was that the devil lost all authority, as a result he and all his angels were cast out from Heaven, and down to the Earth. As John says, “The great dragon was thrown out, the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, deceiving the whole inhabited world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” Revelation 12 verse 9. And the devil, upon the realisation of his condition that his time is now short, he went after the children of Israel with such vehement anger that the Lord said, “For there will be great distress upon the land and wrath to this people.” Luke 21 verse 23. And again, “And unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved; but because of the elect, those days will be shortened.” Matthew 24 verse 22.

And Daniel captured this historic end to the devil’s long-standing methods when he said: “I was looking then, because of the voice of the great words that the horn was speaking; I was looking until that the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and was given to the burning flame. And the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away; and an extension in life was given to them for a season and a time.” Daniel 7 verses 11 to 12. Here, Daniel is describing the destruction of the head of the dragon that represented the Roman empire, and the stripping of dominion from the heads that were identified as, Babylon, Media & Persia, and the kingdom of Greece. Which in effect meant the days of the devil ruling over mankind through his angelic host had come to an end. And the coming of the Seventh head was described by John, saying, “The seven heads are seven mountains, where the woman sits on them; and there are seven kings. The five are fallen, the one is, the other has not yet come; and when he shall have come, it behooves him to remain a little while.” Revelation 17 verses 9 to 10. Now, when John was writing this, the Sixth head, which is the Roman Empire was still in full effect, for which reason he says, “one is,” and he alludes to the fact the Seventh was yet to come. In that, the Seventh head that exerted its power over the land of Israel after the Roman empire was the Islamic empire. And it is from its grip the present nation of Israel was formed, under extreme opposition from every far-flung Islamic nation of the world.

Before we explore how the Seventh head represents the faith of Islam, we need to address how and why it came about. The fact of the matter is that the death and resurrection of the Son of God, has totally destroyed the means by which the devil had ruled the world through sin in order to bring forth death. In that, the Lord Jesus Christ has instigated a means by which all of mankind can be saved from Sin and Death, through faith. As Paul says, “The Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, so that by faith from Jesus Christ, the promise might be given to those believing.” Then he says, “so that we might be justified by faith. And faith having come.” Galatians 3 verses 22, & 24 to 25. Meaning, the way out from the kingdom of darkness that ruled over mankind in Sin and Death is through faith, and faith in the Son of God for the forgiveness of sins. And it is through faith in the knowledge of God in Truth that mankind is now able to exhibit the nature of God in the world. And it is on the account of this that the devil sought to change the means by which he tries to exert his authority over mankind, in order to bring to pass his will. Since the battle for the souls of mankind is now fought according to faith in the knowledge of truth, the devil’s primary mission has now become to oppose this truth by any means necessary, which the early Christians described saying, “[The spirit of] the antichrist, which you heard that is coming, and now is already in the world.” 1 John 4 verse 3. And Paul describes the effect of this spirit, saying, “But if indeed our gospel is concealed, it is concealed to those who are perishing, in whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so as for not to beam forth the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4 verses 3 to 4.

And one of the main methods by which the devil had sought to blind the minds of mankind is through the counterfeit system he implemented, which the Seventh head of the dragon represents. So, while the Six heads of the dragon were all poised to oppose the coming of the Messiah in order to destroy Him. The Seventh head, knowing the Messiah has already come, seeks to implement a different approach by refuting the purpose for which He came. So that mankind through belief of the lie may be deceived in order to exert the nature of the devil in the world, and bring about his will, as Paul says, “God may give them repentance unto a knowledge of the truth, and they might come to their senses out of the snare of the devil, having been captured by him for his will.” 2 Timothy 2 verses 25 to 26. And as much as persecution is an effective tool, which the devil uses in order to coerce people through fear and intimidation in order to bring them to submission, as John pointed out in Revelation 12 verse 17 in relation to the persecution the dragon brought against the offspring of the woman. However, the misdirection of faith through a distorted truth in opposition to the Gospel of Christ is a far more effective tool, that enables him to tightly hold people under the subjugation of bondage in the false service to God, even to the end of their days.

And John describes the moment this came to effect, saying, “And the third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star fell out of heaven, burning like a torch. And it fell upon a third of the rivers, and upon the springs of waters. And the name of the star is called Wormwood. And a third of the waters became wormwood, and many of the men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.” Revelation 8 verses 10 to 11. We are at times tempted to think this verse is referring to some catastrophic event that will come upon the earth in the future, but that is not what John is speaking about. The great star that fell to the ground like a great burning torch, is meant to be a description of the moment the devil himself was cast out of heaven, when Christ was raised to sit on His Fathers throne. [Revelation 12 verses 5 to 9.] And this is supported by the fourth trumpet that follows, as John writes, “And the fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them should be darkened, and the day should not appear for a third of it, and the night likewise.” Revelation 8 verse 12. Which is in reference to the third of the heavenly hosts that were cast down with the devil, which Daniel 8 verse 10 refers to in respect to the beast of Rome that raised itself against the Prince of Princes, and John also illustrated in Revelation 12 verses 4, in respect to the tail of the dragon that swept the third of the stars of heaven down to the earth. And the Lord Himself confirmed this when He spoke about the Tribulation that will come upon Jerusalem in 70 AD, saying, “And immediately after the tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” Matthew 24 verse 29.

And we need to take notice of the fact that this great star selectively fell only on rivers and springs of water, on a planet that is largely covered by oceans and seas. The point is, rivers and springs of water are a representation of truth that are meant to sustain the life of mankind. As the Lord said to the Samaritan woman by the well, “Everyone drinking of this water will thirst again; but whoever may drink of the water that I will give him will never thirst, to the age. Instead, the water that I will give to him will become in him a spring of water, welling up into eternal life.” John 4 verses 13 to 14. The water He gives, is a reference to the truth He reveals to us about Himself that gives us eternal life. So, the core objective of the devil from that day forward has been to pollute the waters and streams, so that those who drink from his corrupted wisdom may be subject to death and destruction, like he is. That is why his fall is described as a burning torch, meaning having the appearance of a light of knowledge and revelation, which he brings forth under disguise, as Paul says, “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11 verse 14. And again, “But the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons.” 1 Timothy 4 verse 1.

And the effect of his fall on the fresh waters in order to turn them bitter so that many of those that drank from it died, can be understood from the teaching of Pastor Joseph Prince on the waters of Marah. When Israel came out of Egypt there was an incident that was recorded, “And they came to Marah, and they were not able to drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. (Upon thus its name was called Marah.) And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” And he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree, and he cast it into the waters, and the waters became sweet.” Exodus 15 verses 23 to 25. The point Pastor Joseph Prince was making was that the Tree was a foreshadow of the Cross of Christ, through which the bitterness of death is taken away. And it is precisely for this reason, the Seventh head that represents the Islamic faith stands with unrelenting opposition to the Cross of Christ. In that, the devil has deemed it acceptable if people believed the Lord Jesus Christ to be sinless, a great Prophet, and a mighty worker of God, but never as the Son of God that suffered death on the cross. He even deemed it permissible that He was ascended into heaven without ever having suffered the death of the cross, in an expression of the benevolence of God. Rather than they believe He died for the sins of the world, through which the bitter waters are made sweet, and he loses all power. As John says, “And they have overcome [the devil] by reason of the blood of the Lamb, and by reason of the word of their testimony; and they have not loved their life unto death.” Revelation 12 verse 11.

And the fulfilment of the rise of the Seventh Head of the dragon, through which the devil sought to enslave people through belief of the lie, was first told in the parable of the Lord, saying, “The kingdom of the heavens has become like a man having sown good seed in his field. And while the men are sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds in the midst of the wheat, and went away. And when the plants sprouted and produced fruit, then the weeds also appeared.” Matthew 13 verses 24 to 26. And He explained the meaning of the parable saying, “The One sowing the good seed is the Son of Man; and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the weeds are the sons of the evil one; and the enemy having sown them is the devil; and the harvest is the consummation of the age; and the harvesters are angels.” Matthew 13 verses 37 to 39. The basic principle of which is that, just as God sowed His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, in order to reap a harvest from mankind in His likeness through the knowledge of the truth. The enemy has also appropriated the same method by sowing his false prophet Mohammed, so that through his teaching in direct opposition to the Gospel of Christ, he might reap from mankind those that exhibit his likeness through belief in the lie. And this is where the nature of the Seventh head of the dragon is revealed as Clay, which is distinct from all the other beasts that came up before it.

And it is through the writing of John that the kingdom of Clay, which Daniel first identified is explained in relation to the Seventh head of the dragon, saying, “And I saw another beast rising out of the earth, and it had two horns like a lamb, and it was speaking like a dragon. And it exercises all the authority of the first beast in the presence of it, and causes the earth and those dwelling in it, that they will worship the first beast, of whom its fatal wound had been healed.” Revelation 13 verses 11 to 12. John describes the nature of the beast of Clay as having an appearance of a lamb, that is of peace, but expresses the nature of the dragon. And he describes the main objective of this beast is to deceive the people of the earth, and to forcefully cause them to worship the beast whose deadly wound is healed, at the penalty of death. [Revelation 13 verses 14 to 15.] And John establishes the fact that the Seventh beast that came up from the earth is in respect to mankind, saying, “And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet, the one having done the signs before him, by which he deceived those having received the mark of the beast and those worshiping its image.” Revelation 19 verse 20. Please note how John uses the term False Prophet to refer to the beast he earlier identified as, rising out of the earth, and having two horns like a lamb, and was speaking like a dragon. So the implication is, the seventh head of the beast is in respect to a faith that is propagated by a false prophet in order to deceive mankind to worship a fallen angel as God, that is Islam.

So, the imagery of Clay that is associated with the Seventh head of the dragon is for us to understand the reference is to mankind, which we find at the beginning of creation, “And the LORD God formed the man from dust of the ground, and He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living soul.” Genesis 2 verse 7. However, the sea is meant to be a representation of the spiritual realm to which the angelic hosts belong. [Daniel 7 verses 2 to 3.] So just as every angelic host that were raised up from the depth of the sea were meant to represent the nature of the dragon in order to enforce his purpose upon the world, likewise, he has also now raised up those that bear his image from among Clay through adherence to his teaching. Now, Mankind by nature is born under the influence of the spirit of the power of the air, that works in our body through the corruption of desires to bring forth death, as Paul taught in Ephesians 2 verses 1 to 3. However, since a way is made available for mankind to come out of this system through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the enemy has sought to implement his own teaching in opposition to this truth, so that through the propagation of the lie he may hold many in dire bondage and utter bewilderment, in order to bring them to destruction. So he has deceived many under the false sense of the worship of God, in a vigorous objection to the truth of God, so that those that adhere to his false teaching are made to exhibit his nature. As Paul said, “Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to him whom you obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?” Romans 6 verse 16.

The Lord said of the religious leaders of His time, “You are of your father the devil, and you desire to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he might speak falsehood, he speaks from the own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8 verse 44. Here, the Lord was making a point in regard to the nature of all of mankind that is born under sin, being under the influence of the spirit of the air which Paul described in Ephesians 2. Meaning, even though these religious leaders had the truth of the word of God, yet they acted according to the age of the world in the desires of their flesh. That is why the Lord repeatedly said to them, you do not do the works of Abraham, nor obey the Laws of Moses. [John 7 verse 19.] And in the Parable of Lazarus, Abraham said to the rich man, “They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.” Luke 16 verse 29. However, the seed which the devil sowed seeks to legitimise the propagation of lies, and justifies murder, which is according to the devil’s own nature. That is why, despite the fact that all mankind is born under sin, the Lord specifically said of those that take up the teaching of the evil one, that they are his sons. The basic concept of a son is one that expresses the nature of his father. Meaning, if you think God is a liar, then you will conceive and speak lies and believe you are accepted by Him. If you think God is a murderer then you will kill with no regard and expect to be rewarded by Him. So, these are not considered his sons just because they are born under sin like any other man, but because they have willingly given themselves to do those things which his teaching justifies, thereby exhibiting his nature into the world.

So the kingdom of Clay which is the Seventh head of the dragon, is in relation to mankind that are raised to bear the image of the devil through the adherence of faith, with an unquenchable hunger to subject all of mankind to submission by any means necessary. And as its name suggests, the purpose of this kingdom is to reinforce the desires of the flesh to be legitimate, through laws and rituals designed to inflate pride, while giving full vent to whim of desires as long as it is at the expense of those that are deemed outside. Even the eternal reward is expressed in the gratification of fleshly lust. So, in clear contrast to the teaching of Paul that states, “I am fleshly, having been sold under sin.” Then he says, “For I know that there dwells in me nothing good, that is, in my flesh.” Romans 7 verses 14, & 18. The teaching that relates to the Seventh head of Clay seeks to exalt where the enemy has his dominance. So, the Seventh Beast is not like the other civilisations that were expressed under the influence of angelic hosts, where the worship of various gods were practised. Instead, the Seventh beast sought to deceive mankind in the worship of the devil as the true and only God, complete with its own system of governance to ensure his stranglehold.

Now, the main point of our study is to explore the relationship between the Sixth head of the dragon identified as Iron, and the Seventh which is identified as Clay, which are meant to be a representation of the days we are living in. Which Daniel described in the main text of our study saying, “the feet and the toes, partly of the clay of a potter, and partly of iron.” Now, John does reveal to us the relationship between these two beasts is one of faith and worship, in that, the first beast mentioned in Revelation 13 that came up out of the sea, whose deadly wound was healed is the object of worship, which the second beast that came up out of the Earth, that is the false prophet seeks to propagate.

John describes the first beast as, “I saw rising out of the sea a beast, having ten horns, and seven heads, and on its horns, ten diadems, and upon its heads, names of blasphemy. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard, and its feet like a bear’s, and its mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave to it his power, and his throne, and great authority. And one of its heads was as having been slain to death. And its wound of death was healed, and the whole earth marveled after the beast.” Revelation 13 verses 1 to 3. The first thing we need to do is to show how the deadly wound that was healed is a reference to the Sixth head of the dragon, which was identified as the kingdom of Rome. And we are able to do so on the account of the prophecies of Daniel that stated, “I was looking then, because of the voice of the great words that the horn was speaking; I was looking until that the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and was given to the burning flame. And the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away; and an extension in life was given to them for a season and a time.” Daniel 7 verses 11 to 12. So, the reference which John makes in relation to a body like a leopard, feet like that of bear, and mouth like that of a lion are all in respect to the beasts of Greece, Media & Persia, and Babylon, whose dominion was taken away. While the head having been slain to death, is in reference to the beast of Rome that was slain, and its body was destroyed and given to the burning flame.

The reason the beast of Rome received such a deadly blow in contrast to all the other beasts was on the account of the fulfilment of the first prophecy that was ever pronounced, when God said to the serpent, “And enmity I will put between you and between the woman, and between your seed and between her seed. He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” Genesis 3 verse 15. Meaning, the beast that upheld the Empire of Rome was slain and cast into the burning flame, on the account he exalted himself against the Prince of Princes. As Daniel says, “And against the Prince of Princes he will rise, and without human hand he will be broken.” Daniel 8 verse 25. So, when the Lord was crucified and raised back to life declaring His victory over Sin, Death, and Hades, the head of the dragon that was at the point of preeminence during that period, the Beast of Rome was crushed. So when John now says, his wound of death was healed, he is describing to us the Sixth Head of the dragon, known as the Beast of Rome will once more rise again. And he describes his return as, “And the beast which was, and is not, is also himself an eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into destruction.” Revelation 17 verse 11. Meaning, his return is counted as a second life, in that, even though the dragon has seven heads, because the Sixth head rises for a second time, his appearance is counted as an 8th.

And John describes the moment the healing of the head of this beast began to be manifested into the world saying, “And the fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star having fallen out of heaven to the earth, and the key of the pit of the abyss was given to it. And he opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke of the pit.” Revelation 9 verses 1 to 2. This is describing to us the moment the pit that had held the beast of Rome for the last two centuries was opened, in order to make way for his ascendance and eventual destruction. [Revelation 17 verse 8.] For a point of reference, in Revelation 20, Satan himself will be released to deceive mankind after he has been bound for 1000 years, before he is also cast into the eternal burning flame. And the effect of the rise of the beast of Rome is felt across the world, especially among those that trace their roots to Greco-Roman civilization. And John describes what this effect will be like, saying, “And out of the smoke, locusts came forth unto the earth, and power was given to them, like the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was said to them that they shall not harm the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men not having the seal of God on the foreheads.” And he follows this with, “And the appearance of the locusts was like horses having been prepared for battle, and upon their heads were something like crowns, like gold; and their faces like the faces of men. And they had hair like hair of women, and their teeth were like those of lions. And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron.” Finally, he says, “They have a king over them, the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek, he has the name Apollyon.” Revelation 9 verses 2 to 4, 7 to 9, & 11.

The sun and air being darkened is to illustrate how the course of the world is going to be affected, Paul said, “Once you walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience.” Ephesians 2 verse 2. So, the effect of the rise of this beast is especially directed against those that do not have the mark of the seal of God, meaning those with Atheistic point of view, and those of other faiths. And the first effect of the influence of his spirit is in relation to the Climate Change delusion that grips the hearts of mankind, as the Lord said, “And upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity, sea roaring and surge rolling, men fainting from fear and expectation of that which is coming on the earth.” Luke 21 verses 25 to 26. Which John describes in respect to the command that was given to the locusts, “it was said to them that they shall not harm the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree.” The Second has to do with the Gender confusion which this locusts bring, and this ideology is fiercely fought in the public arena under the guise of righteousness in opposition to the truth, which John illustrates through the appearance of the locusts, saying, “upon their heads were something like crowns, like gold; and their faces like the faces of men. And they had hair like hair of women.” So, these locusts are meant to be an expression of demonic spiritual forces that go out into the world in order to influence the manner people think, according to the desired course of the age, especially among those that have rejected God and have an Atheistic world view.

And John identifies the king that has influence over these locusts in order to bring his will into the world, as the angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek Apollyon. And this is significant because, the name of the angel of the abyss in both Hebrew and Greek, means “to destroy,” or “destroyer.” And it is precisely this tendency to destroy, which Daniel sought to express about the Beast of Rome, saying, “A fourth beast, being fearsome and terrible and exceedingly strong. Great teeth of iron were unto it; it was devouring and breaking in pieces, and it was trampling the remainder with its feet;” Daniel 7 verse 7. So his name Abaddon or Apollyon, is meant to be the expression of his nature. Likewise, Joel also captures the destructive nature of Rome, saying, “a great and strong army appears, such as never was of old, nor will ever be in ages to come. Before them a fire devours, and behind them a flame scorches. The land before them is like the Garden of Eden, but behind them, it is like a desert wasteland— surely nothing will escape them.” Joel 2 verses 2 to 3.

And even though the beast of Rome was destroyed and cast into the Abyss, the Greco-Roman civilization that was established under his reign continued its existence under Judeo-Christian influence. Daniel illustrating this point says, “As you saw the feet and the toes, partly of the clay of a potter, and partly of iron, so the kingdom shall be divided; and some of the strength of the iron will be in it, as you saw the iron mixed with common clay.” Daniel 2 verse 41. By saying, “some of the strength of the iron will be in it,” Daniel is showing the continual effect of that civilisation that persists to the present age. And for the magnitude of the present age the influence of the Seventh head of the dragon in relation to the faith of Islam was mainly contained to Eastern and Southern parts of the world relative to Israel. Even though there had been an aggressive attempt at expansion into the territories that are commonly defined as Western, yet it has been successfully pushed back. So, the dire incompatibility of these opposing world views have been apparent, from the moment the Seventh head of the dragon began to expand its ideologies at the point of the sword.

This being the case, John reveals to us, the relationship between the Sixth Head of the dragon, that is the beast of Rome known as Abaddon, and the Seventh head of the dragon which is in respect to the faith of Islam, saying, “And [the Second beast] exercises all the authority of the first beast in the presence of it, and causes the earth and those dwelling in it, that they will worship the first beast, of whom its fatal wound had been healed.” Revelation 13 verse 12. Through this statement John illustrated the angel Abaddon is the god of Islam, under whom the false prophet exercises all his authority. And this is where something that does not make sense takes place, in that, those identified with Greco-Roman world view, are increasingly being mixed with the Islamic world view, to which they have been at odds throughout the ages. As Daniel says, “As you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will be mixing together with the seed of man; they will not be adhering this to that, as iron does not mix with clay.” Now, by saying the mixing together with the seed of man, the reference is to the movement of people, where people with contrary world views are increasingly being forced to merge together. And the common force that is pulling Atheistic Greco-Roman world, to be in congruence with Islamic influence is the rise of the spirit of Abaddon. Meaning, the angel Abaddon is the bridge between the two. So, just as Green, and Gender ideologies are identification markers for the age we are living in, the mixing of Iron with Clay as it relates to Western and Islamic world views is also another. And as the influence of the spirit of Abaddon increases in the Greco-Roman world, they will increasingly grow more belligerent towards Israel.

As such, the influence of the spirit of Abaddon is felt in the Greco-Roman world, through those that seek to champion the cause of Islam. Which Daniel foreshadowed in respect to the manner the spirit of Abaddon worked through the 11th Emperor Vespasian, saying, “And the king will act according to his desires, and he will exalt and magnify himself over every god, and he will speak blasphemies against the God of gods. … And he will not pay attention to any god, for he will magnify himself above them all. And he will show honor to a god of fortresses in their place, and he will show honor to a god that his fathers did not know,” … Then he says, “And he will act against the fortifications of strongholds with a foreign god. On those who acknowledge him, he will increase glory and make them to rule over many;” Daniel 11 verses 36 to 39. The main point of significance is that, this emperor was described as one that does not submit to any god but seeks to exalt himself, yet at the same time he is also described as one that seeks to honour and advance the cause of a foreign god that neither he nor his fathers have known. So, the basic principle that is being relayed is that those that hold Atheistic world views giving no regard to any God, yet seek to champion the cause of Islam, a god that is foreign to the Greco-Roman world. And this in essence is the manner the spirit of Abaddon is being manifested in the current Western world.

The important point to realise about the working of the spirit of Abaddon that seems to straddle two opposing world views is that it is not dominance that he seeks, that is to be shortsighted, but a sure and effective means by which he may destroy the souls of mankind. Satan and his cohorts have painfully recognised their inevitable end, on the day they were cast out of heaven, and ever since then they have been operating with the knowledge that they have a very short time. For which reason Satan has been working precisely to this very end, as Paul says, “[The coming of the lawless one] is according to the working of Satan, in every power, and in signs, and in wonders of falsehood, and in every deception of wickedness unto those perishing, in return for which they did not receive the love of the truth in order for them to be saved.” 2 Thessalonians 2 verses 9 to 10. This is what we mean when we say Satan has changed the manner he operates in the world, in that, the manner he operated according to the kingdom of Iron is different to that of the kingdom of Clay, since his objective has shifted on the account of the Messiah.

Therefore, the advancement of the faith that came through the Seventh head is far more important to him, because it is an effective way to hold the souls of mankind unto destruction. So his efforts are geared towards bringing forth the day which John describes as, “And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but receive authority as kings one hour, along with the beast. These have one mind, and they shall give up their power and authority to the beast.” Revelation 17 verses 12 to 13. This is speaking of the day the Greco-Roman world will hand over their authority to the false prophet that represents the angel Abaddon. Whereby he will be able to implement a system where mankind will be forced to worship him, and receive his seal upon their body, so he can with all certainty know he has destroyed their soul. As John says, “And there was given to it to give breath to the image of the beast, so that image of the beast also should speak, and should cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast would be killed. And it causes all the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the servants, that it should give them a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and that no one should be able to buy or to sell, if not the one having the mark—the name of the beast, or the number of its name.” Revelation 13 verses 15 to 17.

And this change of approach can be proven as it relates to Israel. When Daniel described the day Israel fell into the hands of the 11th Emperor of Rome, in whom the spirit of Abaddon worked, he said, “And the ten horns: From the kingdom, ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the former, and three kings he will bring low. And he will speak words against the Most High, and the saints of the Most High he will wear out, and he will intend to change the times and the law; they will be given into his hand for a time, and times, and half a time.” Daniel 7 verses 24 to 25. And throughout the proceeding chapters, Daniel increasingly revealed how this is going to be manifested, from the moment the daily sacrifice was stopped, to the setting up the abomination of desolation, which eventually led to the utter destruction of Jerusalem and the people of holiness being utterly broken. [Daniel 12 verse 7.] So, Daniel, like the Lord and John, wanted to emphasise the rage of the enemy that was going to be unleashed against the people of Israel.

However, when John describes the days when the spirit of Abaddon will be working through the man of lawlessness, he says, “And a mouth was given to it, speaking great things and blasphemy, and it was given authority to act forty and two months. And it opened its mouth unto blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, those dwelling in heaven. And there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. And authority was given to it over every tribe and people and tongue and nation. And all dwelling on the earth will worship it.” Revelation 13 verses 6 to 8. Please note, in both instances, the saints, that is the people of Israel were given over into the hands of Abaddon, however his objective is not like the last time when he went into utter blind rage. This time, he is seeking to ensnare the souls of mankind by making them worship him, or compelling them to receive his seal on their body for the sake of being able to function in the world. So, even though he will invade the land of Israel as Zechariah 14 prophesied, nonetheless, his objective is not to destroy it, as Paul says, “The man of lawlessness shall have been revealed—the son of destruction, the one opposing and exalting himself above every so-called god or object of worship—so as for him to sit down in the temple of God, setting forth that he himself is God.”  2 Thessalonians 2 verses 3 to 4. So, the acceptance of himself as god in the sight of many is the main priority.

That is why when the Lord speaking of those days says, “Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one watching and keeping his garments, so that he should not walk naked and they might see his shame.” Revelation 16 verse 15. In a world that is plunged into utter darkness, where daily life is not certain, the warning of the Lord is, be sure to keep the faith, and do not sell your souls by giving into the world. [Luke 17 verses 32 to 33.] And the saints of Israel that perished during that time are not described as casualties of war, which Zechariah also asserts, saying, “half of the city will go forth into exile, and the remnant of the people will not be cut off from the city.” Zechariah 14 verse 2. Likewise, Joel also says, “And the sons of Judah and the sons of Jerusalem you sold to the sons of Javan, that you might remove them far from their borders.” Joel 3 verse 6. However, in the writing of John, they are described as those that bore the consequences of having stood their ground in faith, saying, “And the souls of those having been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who did not worship the beast, nor his image, and did not take the mark upon the forehead, and upon their hand.” Revelation 20 verse 4. And the same sentiment in respect to those that gave up their lives on the account of their faith is also expressed in Revelation 15 verses 2 to 3.

The point is, those that come through the hour of trial that will come upon the whole world, will live under the righteous rule of the Lord Jesus Christ. [Zechariah 14 verse 16.] And those that stood in faith against the beast and the mark of his name, will be raised to reign with the Lord. So the aim of the beast and his false prophet is to apply pressure by any means necessary, through all manner of deceits, so that people will be forced to receive the seal of his mark upon their body, and lose their souls. As John wrote, “If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives a mark on his forehead or upon his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the anger of God, having been mixed undiluted in the cup of His wrath.” Revelation 14 verses 9 to 10. The seal of the mark of the beast is meant to be the final nail on the coffin for anyone who submits. And this is where the Seventh head of the dragon ends almost imperceptibly, because its existence is in relation to mankind that were deceived to worship the lie. So the end of the Seventh head of the dragon is described in three categories, the Beast Abaddon, who is the object of worship and is cast into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. Likewise, the False Prophet that propagated the lie in order to deceive the world will also suffer the same fate. Last of all, we have the third component, which is in respect to those that submitted themselves to this faith, be it through the love of what is unrighteous, or that of fear, as John says, “And the rest were killed with the sword of the One sitting on the horse having gone forth out of his mouth. And all the birds were filled with their flesh.” Revelation 19 verse 21. [Revelation 14 verses 18 to 20.] So, unlike the six other heads of the dragon that were described as falling into destruction, along with Death, Satan, or any of the multitudes of spiritual hosts of wickedness, the Seventh head goes into destruction in respect to the people that were deceived to believe a lie. For which reason, the Lord gives a stern warning for those that have given themselves to the obedience of the faith of Islam, even to the very end!
