God Hates Humility.

Humility as in our perception of it. There are many whom we consider to be humble, God would consider proud. And there are many whom we consider to be arrogant and boastful, but are humble in sight of God.

“I, even I, am He who comforts you. Why should you be afraid of mortal man, of a son of man who withers like grass? But you have forgotten the LORD, your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth. You live in terror all day long because of the fury of the oppressor who is bent on destruction.” Isaiah 51:12-13

According to the majority of our thinking God hates humility and punishes everyone one who considers themselves little. If humility is a true estimation of ourselves, God has done a great mis-justice to the congregation of Israel in the wilderness. While He commended the arrogance of Joshua and Caleb, who looked at the might of the people of the land, who were giants and descendants of Anak, with their walled cities and said, “We must go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly conquer it!” Numbers 13:30 But the rest of the congregation of humble men, who had a true estimation of themselves and said, “We cannot go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are!…We seemed like grasshoppers in our own sight, and we must have seemed the same to them!” Number 13:31,33 And God punished them, their dead bodes fell in the wilderness. But of Caleb He says, “Because My servant Caleb has a different spirit and has followed Me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he has entered, and his descendants will inherit it.” Numbers 14:24

David said, “For in You I can charge an army, and with my God I can scale a wall.” Psalm 18:29 According to our perception it is a statements that lack humility,  yet God says of him, “He is a man after God’s own heart.” Hebrews records the great feat of those in faith, who quenched fires, shut the mouth of lions, subdued kingdoms, wrought justice, yet we would call them a collection of arrogant people. Proverbs says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Proverbs 3:34

  • Therefore subject yourselves to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
  • Be humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time, having cast all your anxiety upon Him, because with Him there is care about you.” 1 Peter  5:6-7

It is not humility to side with the world and believe the statement of the devil. And it is not arrogance to say, “In this body there is no sin, it has been put to death through baptism with Christ. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. God meets all my needs. True Humility is Believing the word of God over the world, taking no estimation of ourselves. And true pride is having a full measure of our own strength and giving no place for the power of God.

God says, “I have put My words in your mouth, and covered you with the shadow of My hand, to establish the heavens, to found the earth, and to say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’” Isaiah 51:16 Think of it, His Words in our mouth, THAT He may declare His might workings both in haven and earth. God has so bound Himself to us to establish His kingdom through His words in our mouth. Therefore we ought to say what God says, and declare His truth over all the circumstance. Say all the things He says we are.

And they have overcome him by reason of the blood of the Lamb, and by reason of the word of their testimony.

Revelation 12:11
