From the teaching of: Pastor Curry Blake, “By These Precious Promises.”
“His divine power has given to usall things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature.” 2 Peter 1:3-4
God cannot say no to His promise you decide to believe and act upon. God’s Promises are His will! God can not alter what He has spoken. However they remain just a promises as long as they remain in the book but when we take [believe] them and live by them in faith they become a blessing to us. The more we know of Him, the more we are able to imitate Him, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.” Ephesians 5:1
The promises of God were made to Jesus Christ. “To Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.” Galatians 3:16 Now, Christ has obtained the promises of God by fulfilling the requirements of the law. So in Him all the blessings are made available and none of the curses. “He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.” Hebrew 8:6 Therefore God can not say no to the promises which [Christ has obtained] by the sacrifice of Himself and has made it available to us. “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20
And we who have believed in Jesus Christ are in Him, and He is in us, therefore all the promises of God are ‘Yes” and “Amen” to us. All the blessings of the law listed in, Deuteronomy 28:1-14 are for us through Him and more; which are the better promises, a life of godliness being united with Him through His Spirit leading to everlasting life.
- “Who through faith, subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises.” Hebrews 11:33
When we take His promises and put them to effecting in our lives it brings glory to God. And they are activated by our faith. “the just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17 That is, the just shall live by acting on the promises contained in Scripture. Therefore, “you start acting like it is true before you starts to see them manifested in your life.” C.B That is through faith and patience, there is a perseverance in faith. Not all the promises of God are manifested immediately, it is like a seed that is sown, and we are able to obtain them if we endure and not lose heart.
- “Show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience obtain the promises.” Hebrews 6:11-12
