How Jacob was left alone. All that he had and hoped on has crossed over ahead of him and was taken away from him until only him was left. Him alone with God.
The very next day he was destined to meet Esau, and from what Jacob remembers of his last interaction with his brother is that Esau vowing to kill him for stealing his blessing and tricking him out of his inheritance.
God separated Jacob from all he knew. He had nowhere to go and no one to turn to. At this very point God wrestles with Jacob and was about to leave him. Jacob know know he is broken, he has no resistance and knows his protector, provider, and saviour is God and Him alone. So Jacob clings and would not let God go until He blesses him.
Point: The enemy always wants us to think that we have many ways out and options. You can do a balance transfer, you can always count to borrow from x or z, on and on. All the while the key plan of the enemy is to keep you from relying on the only One who is sure, the only One who would never leave you or abandon you, the Rock our God.
When we let go and know in the depth of our being that our God wants notting but to give us good gifts that there is nothing good He would withhold from us, then He will give it all back to us many times over. The restorer of all things is Him.
Jacob was blessed by God, the old him that clung to old things like wives, money died and a new man was born with God at the centre of his heart and his name was Israel.
God as a sign of this attached a stigma to him. He put a joint out that from that day on he walked with a limp.
So when God calls us, He will strip away all things that are not from Him, all our pride, slothfulness, temperament, selfishness, deceitfulness and f the things we put our hopes on and leaves us bear and naked with nowhere to turn but to him and him alone.
Then we are truly are re-born and as a reminder of that day we are given a stigma a limp, a thorn in the flesh by which we are seen and perceived.
We should never be ashamed of the stigma or mark since it is from God and it is a mark of re-birth.
Second point is when we think and perceive an offence from without the Lord is working in us from within and when He has done His work He will ask as to approach the source of our offence and in all humbleness make restoration.
All the while the change He is bringing is in us. The outcome of our obedience is joy, unity, love and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit for the good of everyone.
God is after us, He conquers us, He cuts us to size, He brings us down and when He has made us right He makes those we saw as our enemies be at peace with us by making us go to them or they coming to us. All the while we are waiting for Him to cut them down to size.
The Lord our God is Just, Righteous and He is the only way. His plan is for our good only.
