Giving is a seed. God has linked seedtime and harvest, sowing and reaping that everything begins with a seed. [The Lord Jesus is referred to as a seed, which God sowed that He might reap a harvest of sons and daughters. For God so Loved the world He gave. [John 3:16] God Himself is an example for us.
Giving is not simple putting your money into the work of the Lord because it is our duty to do so but the very evidence and expression of our faith. Our giving sees the maintenance and the expansion of the kingdom of God. That the hope and joy that is in us maybe shared with others also. But we also ought to do it with the understanding of sowing a seed to reap a harvest.
None of us ever give God anything, He owns all [Job 41:11] and what we have has come from Him, “God is our source not people – That He is God of the harvest.” “In giving of your tithes, sow them as seed to Him your source and expect Him to multiply your seed sown – and be in a conscious attitude to receive.” It is a kingdom principle and not something to be squeamish about in expecting a return, every farmer sows seed expecting a bountiful harvest. Giving out of your need and giving your best, for a desired result [aim the seed towards the need] and to expect to receive a multiplied harvest in return.
- A principle for expectation: he who ploughs ploughs in hope and he who threshes threshes in hop that he might partake of his hop. [2 Corinthians 9:9] Paul is speaking of the worker in a principle for expectation and you also if you sow you should do so in hop of a return.
- A principle for reaping:
- When the Lord encouraged the Israelites to bring the tithe into His house so there may be food in His house, [Malachi 3:10] He does so by assuring them how He is going to pour His blessing upon them. That The Lord will rebuke the devourer for your sakes that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground. [Malachi 3:11] And their lack at the moment directly attributed to failure in their part to uphold this principle. “that you looked for much, but Indeed it came little” [Haggai 1:5-11]
- Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. [2 Corinthians 9:10]
- A principle for the measure:
- Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. [Luke 6:38]
- But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. [2 Corinthians 9:6] [Cheerful – willing]
- A principle for the overall purpose:
- Having all in sufficiency in all things, may have in abundance for every good work. [2 Corinthians 9:8]
Sowing out of your greatest need: [defeat is an opportunity to rise] Defeat normally implies for us to recoil back, lick our wounds, button up the hatches but it ought to be the opposite it is a time of praise and worship and to sow out of our greatest need a special seed for an equivalent benefit.
Consider every venture first in term of sowing a seed first. For its success and to expect a miracle harvest. “The first thing I do before making decisions and attempting things for God is: [Oral Roberts]
- Praying in tongues and receiving the interpretation as the apostle Paul did in First Corinthians 14:13-15.
- Sowing my seed of faith, giving God something to work with to multiply into a miracle harvest to bring to pass His plan and purpose.
Elements of giving: the tithe is equivalent to sustaining the Lords house hence the expected harvest being your own house to be sustained. And giving of your freewill offering and others is a harvest accordingly expected. That giving is the determining factor where you put your trust God or Mammon. [Creflo Dollar]
